This is one of the best pasta and kielbasa recipes to make for a few simple reasons
Pasta - choose your favorite. I like rotini because it has lots of crevices for the sauce to stick, but bowties and penne are both good options.
Kielbasa - this is the star of the dish! Use your favorite kielbasa.
Veggies - I like onions and green peppers; dice them into bite sized pieces.
Butter - adds a richness to the sauce
Flour - thickens the sauce
Seasonings - cajun, oregano, salt and pepper are all you need for this pasta dish
Chicken broth - for the sauce, I like to use reduced sodium chicken broth
Heavy cream - this makes the sauce nice and creamy
Cheese - a blend of parmesan cheese and white cheddar matches the flavors perfectly
Step one: boil the pasta according to package directions
Step two: cook the kielbasa and the veggies until the veggies start to soften
Step three: melt the butter in the pan, then sprinkle with flour and seasonings and mix
Step four: slowly pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer
Step five: add the cream and simmer until thickened
Step six: add the shredded cheese and stir until melted through
Step seven: add the pasta and mix to coat with the sauce
Step eight: garnish with additional cheese and sliced green onions

Kielbasa and kolbassa are different names for the same type of smoked Polish sausage traditionally flavored with garlic and sometimes marjoram. It is typically spelled kielbasa, but sometimes you may see it in stores labeled as kolbassa. It is usually made out of pork but there are also sometimes other variations such as turkey and beef. For this recipe I used regular pork kielbasa.
Any large (12” or more), deep skillet will work wonderfully for this recipe. If you don't have that you can also use a large pot. I love my Le Creuset enameled cast iron skillets for dishes such as this, but a stainless steel or nonstick skillet would work well too.
This creamy kielbasa pasta is hearty enough to be a meal on its own, however I love to pair it with a fresh green salad and some warm crusty bread.
This meal lasts up to three days in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Leftovers can be frozen but the pasta will have a mushy texture when reheated. To reheat simply microwave the pasta for 1 minute, then in 30 second increments, stirring in between each.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add the pasta and follow package instructions to cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Meanwhile, in a large, deep skillet, heat the olive over medium high heat, then add the kielbasa, onion and green pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the veggies start to soften.
Add the butter and allow to melt; then sprinkle with the flour, cajun seasoning, oregano, salt and pepper and mix well. Cook for 2 minutes before slowly adding the chicken broth. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and pour in the heavy cream.
Simmer until the sauce has thickened, then stir in the parmesan cheese and the white cheddar. Stir in the cooked noodles. Remove from heat, sprinkle with additional parmesan and sliced green onions if desired.
