I don't know a single person who doesn't like chocolate chip cookies, or OREOs for that matter! Combining th two just makes sense; these cookies are so good. I couldnt wait for them to finish baking - 10 minutes has never felt so long!

What are the ingredients in these cookies and cream cookies?

These cookies use everyday ingredients:

  • butter - this is the base in most cookie recipes
  • sugars - a blend of brown and granulated makes these cookies perfectly sweet and soft
  • eggs - helps hold everything together
  • vanilla - enhances the flavor of the cookies
  • salt - another flavor enhancer
  • flour - the structure of the cookies
  • baking soda - helps make the cookies puff up slightly
  • OREOs - the special ingredient!
  • baking chips - a blend of white and milk chocolate for a super sweet treat

What kind of oreo should I use?

The kind of OREO you use will dictate the flavor the cookies have. I like to use original OREOs, but you can also use golden OREOs, or one of their fun seasonal flavors! It is better to stick with any variety that is not double stuff - all the extra cream makes the OREOs more likely to fall apart during mixing.

How to make OREO chocolate chip cookies?

the steps for making these delicious cookies is just as simple as any other drop cookie recipe:

step one: stir together the dry ingredients

step two: cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy, then add the eggs and vanilla and beat well

flour before mixing
flour in a bowl after mixing
butter and sugars before mixing

eggs added to butter mixture
cookie dough wet ingredients

step three: add the flour in 2-3 smaller additions, mixing well after each

step four: fold in the oreos, chocolate chips, and white chips

flour added to wet ingredients
cookie dough before chips and cookies added
chocolate chips and cookie pieces added to bowl

step five: drop the cookies onto a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until just starting to turn golden brown

Tips for the best cookies:

  • cream your butter and sugars really well, this makes a difference in the final texture of your cookies
  • use a cookie scoop for evenly sized cookies; this not only makes them look prettier but it also helps them cook evenly
  • parchment paper is recommended so that they do not stick to the pan, you can cook on an ungreased cookie sheet but make sure you have a thin spatula to help lift them off once they are finished baking
  • milk and white chocolate make a delicious combination, but it is admittedly quite sweet; semisweet can be used in place if you prefer a less sweet cookie
  • Save some chocolate chips and OREO pieces to add on top of the cookie dough balls before baking to make them extra pretty

Storage/freezing directions:

These OREO chocolate chip cookies stay good in a sealed container for a few days on the counter, You can also freeze the cookies in a freezer safe container or baggie once baked, but I prefer to freeze the dough if I don't need the whole batch. The cookies made from frozen dough taste just as good as (if not better than) non-frozen dough. ayou can either freeze the dough as-is, or preportion cookie dough balls and freeze. If cooing dough balls from frozen the cookies will be slightly thicker and may require extra time to finish baking.
